Judie Harron of Iowa shares her trick for keeping organized and reducing her work while strip piecing. Here is a tip I follow anytime I am piecing a quilt that requires strips of fabric - Log Cabin, Bargello, Fence Rail, and others - to avoid having to re-press strips and to help keep them organized. After cutting and pressing strips, I organize them on a pants hanger according to how I will sew them into the pattern. It really works great. I can hang it near my sewing machine and just take the strips as they come. Once I've sewed two strips together, I return them to the pants hanger. They stay crisp and do not need re-pressing. Try it - I'm sure you will like it! Judie, I love this idea. It should work really well with the structured piecing methods I use. I'm going to do this on my next Log Cabin quilt.
