Before ironing freezer paper onto fabric to cut out a pattern, first iron the freezer paper onto your ironing board or another piece of cloth. The freezer paper will shrink the first time you iron it. You can iron freezer paper many times onto fabric before the wax gives out.

If you use freezer paper without shrinking it first, you can lose a good amount of your 1/4" seam allowance.
